Sustainable career development in inclusive education

The international collaboration between the research team from the University of Siena All Inclusive project and the team from The Education University of Hong Kong continues to produce significant results in the field of inclusive educational research. The prestigious international journal Sustainability has recently published the second scientific article resulting from this partnership: “Promoting Sustainable Career Development in Inclusive Education: A Psychometric Study of Career Maturity Among Students with Special Educational Needs“, authored by Fengzhan Gao, Lan Yang, Lawrence P. W. Wong, Qishuai Zhang, Kuen Fung Sin and Alessandra Romano.

The study addresses a crucial issue in inclusive education: the lack of valid and tailored tools for career assessment of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This gap significantly limits the possibilities for equitable transition to adulthood and employment for these students.

The research fits within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which promotes quality and inclusive educational opportunities for all, and represents an important step toward the development of inclusive and contextually sensitive assessment tools, offering preliminary evidence to support equity and empowerment of SEN students in their educational and professional pathways. This work is part of the broader series of collaborative studies that are significantly contributing to the advancement of research in inclusive education and sustainable career development.
